If you're looking for a natural, effective way to nourish and rejuvenate your hair, look no further than Raw Coconut Oil. This staple is versatile from the kitchen pantry to your bathroom counter! Coconut oil can be a miracle worker for hair care, and using it as a hair mask can yield remarkable results. Let’s dive into why coconut oil is a fantastic choice for your hair PLUS how to create your own coconut oil hair mask at home.

Getting Down to the Basics: Benefits Edition

Deep Conditioning: Coconut oil is rich in fatty acids, which penetrate the hair shaft better than other oils. This deep conditioning effect helps to repair and strengthen hair from within.

Moisture Retention: One of the primary benefits of coconut oil is its ability to retain moisture. It forms a protective barrier around the hair, preventing moisture loss and keeping your hair hydrated and soft.

Reduced Protein Loss: Hair is primarily composed of protein, and coconut oil helps reduce protein loss in both damaged and undamaged hair. This is crucial for maintaining strong, healthy hair.

Scalp Health: Coconut oil has antimicrobial properties, which can help to combat dandruff and keep your scalp healthy. A healthy scalp is essential for hair growth and overall hair health.

Frizz Control: The smoothing properties of coconut oil help to tame frizz and flyaways, giving your hair a sleek and polished look.

How to Use Coconut Oil as a Hair Mask

Creating a coconut oil hair mask is simple and you can adjust it to fit your specific hair needs. We even have a short video to show you how to get started. All you need is a jar of Dignity’s Raw Coconut Oil (safe for skin and hair)!

Follow these instructions for maximum benefits:

  1. SCOOP: Start by scooping out about 2-3 tablespoons of coconut oil with your fingers or a spoon. The amount will vary depending on the length and thickness of your hair. We recommend using smaller amounts for shorter or finer hair so that it is easier to wash out.
  2. MELT: If your coconut oil is still in solid form, simply rub it between your hands until it becomes liquid. Your body heat will quickly warm the oil to turn it into the perfect liquid consistency. If you prefer, you can also set your jar in a larger bowl of hot water to liquify it.
  3. SECTION: Part your hair into manageable sections so that you can begin putting in the oil. This should not be too complicated and is just to make sure you are able to apply evenly. We find that using a hair clip makes it easier!
  4. APPLY: Start with dry or slightly damp hair and apply the melted coconut oil from roots to tips, ensuring that each strand is coated. Focus on the ends, as they are typically the most damaged. If you have fine hair, avoid the scalp completely as it could take multiple washes to get the oil out.
  5. MASSAGE: For those with curly or coily hair, gently massage the oil into your scalp for a few minutes to stimulate blood circulation and promote scalp health.
  6. COVER: Once your hair is fully coated, cover it with a shower cap or towel. Leave the mask on for at least 30 minutes. For a deeper conditioning treatment, you can leave it on overnight. Our favorite hack is applying before a workout or gym session - just clip it up or braid and you don’t have to cover it this way! You’re going to be taking a shower anyways, why not multitask?
  7. WASH: After the desired time, rinse the coconut oil out thoroughly with warm water. Follow with your regular shampoo and conditioner to ensure all the oil is removed. If it still feels like there is oil in your hair, make sure to double wash.
  8. STYLE: Style as usual!

Tips and Tricks for Best Results:

  • Use the coconut oil hair mask once a week for optimal results.
  • If you have fine or oily hair, avoid applying coconut oil directly to the scalp and focus on the mid-lengths and ends.
  • For added benefits, mix coconut oil with other natural ingredients like honey, avocado, or essential oils tailored to your hair type.

Coconut oil is a versatile and natural solution for many hair concerns. Its ability to deeply condition, retain moisture, and improve scalp health makes it an excellent choice for a hair mask. Incorporating a coconut oil hair mask into your regular hair care routine can help you achieve healthier, shinier, and more manageable hair naturally. Give it a try with Dignity Coconuts Raw Coconut Oil for Skin & Hair and experience the rejuvenation of coconut oil for yourself!

Meet 5 Dignity dads who transformed their families lives

June 16, 2024

In honor of Fathers' Day, we are celebrating 5 dads who transformed their families lives by working at Dignity. In the Philippines, there are constant factors that threaten to break families apart. From natural disasters, lack of work, substance abuse, and sickness it was found that 1 in 3 children grow up without both parents. Dignity brings families back together by providing a safe work environment and job security. These fathers live out the mission of Dignity by caring for their families and doing whatever it takes to create a better life.

Clint, Gerone, Jayson, Junel, and Ernan want to be able to put food on the table, a roof over their head, send their children to school, and spend time with their families. Without a stable job, these basic needs and wants become far-fetched dreams. These 5 lives are connected by a common thread: Dignity became part of their “village”, allowing these fathers to invest in their families and communities.
