Meet Jerson.
Jerson dreams of becoming successful, and for him that means giving his family a good future and getting them out of poverty. He is extremely hardworking and strives for self-improvement at all times. However, because of the lack of opportunities where he lives, his dream for his family seems so far away.
Before working at Dignity, Jerson could only get side jobs here and there. The pay he received was not even enough to cover their daily needs. They had no savings, no safety net and no financial future. So when his family got sick, he faced his biggest challenge: not having enough money to have them treated at the hospital. It took everything he had to overcome that challenge, and he knew he never wanted to face that again.
When he heard of Dignity, Jerson immediately applied, knowing that it was the only opportunity for him to work in his hometown. He had a feeling that he would be able to earn and save up more. He became one of Dignity’s coconut haulers, picking up coconuts purchased from the farmers and trucking them to the main plant.
Jerson shared, “I am proud to be working at Dignity. I am so happy that since I started working at Dignity, I have been able to help meet my family’s needs.” He has been able to save up a little in an emergency fund so that he will not face that struggle again.
