Meet Jorlan. As the oldest of four siblings, he did not have a choice between pursuing his dreams and staying home to provide for his family. His father is a fisherman and his mother works in a coffee business, so it was always challenging to make ends meet. While his dream was to move to the city and go to college, Jorlan felt a strong responsibility to set a good example for his siblings and help provide for the family. His dreams would have to wait.

Jorlan had worked odd jobs in construction and coconut farming, but these jobs were not stable and secure. But what really tore him up inside was the loss of his dream because of a lack of money.

Jorlan knew that he did not want this to hold him back from moving on with his life though. He had hope that if he worked hard he would eventually be able to send himself to school, so he began to look.

Enter Dignity.

At first, Jorlan thought the work would not be interesting or challenging, like his past jobs.

However, Jorlan was surprised to find an engaging community, hard work, and encouragement to grow. He had a positive team that cared for each other. Jorlan knows there is purpose to his work and he is thankful to be near family, even as he still plans to return to school eventually.
