We go beyond Fair Trade! The founding mission of our company is to provide coconut farmers a way out of modern-day slavery. First, we trained and funded all 141 of our small-scale farmers to be Organic Certified (a 3-year process!). This increased the value of their coconuts significantly. Then, we formed Co-ops and now involve farmers in our pricing. All of this is on top of our community development work. We plan to get Fair Trade Certified, but the high cost, training and documentation required is a daunting task when we are already going beyond Fair Trade.
Dignity’s Raw Coconut Oil has a best buy date of 2 years from when it was made. Store in a cool place away from extended sun is best. As long as the lid is airtight, coconut oil can be stored in the pantry, fridge, dresser drawer, or countertop. After 2 years we can’t guarantee the quality, but our staff is eating coconut oil and using lip balms that are over 5 years old!
Dignity’s All Natural Lip Balms are best used within 2 years of receiving them. Lip Balm should be stored in a cool, dry place, with limited exposure to sunlight for risk of the lip balm melting.

Coconut oil is naturally Vegan. Our Raw Coconut Oil is not Certified Vegan, because as a single ingredient it can only be Vegan.
Certifying Dignity’s All Natural Lip Balms as Vegan is in the works! For now, all of the ingredients used in our lip balms are listed on the product and they each qualify as Vegan.

Standard shipping usually takes 2 - 7 business days to get from our warehouse near Chicago to your door. It can take 10 business days for the West Coast.
If you have a delivery deadline (for holidays, birthday, etc), send us an email with your order number and we'll do our best to get it there or contact you with options.
Who likes paying for shipping and handling? NO ONE! We work hard to keep these costs low and we cover the handling costs.
For orders over $35, standard shipping is FREE, which usually ship Priority Mail (2-7 days) from Chicago. Orders to the West Coast & FL over 12 lbs usually ship UPS Ground.
For orders under $35, lighter shipments (like one 4oz jar and/or lip balms) ship First Class for $4.95 or $7.95 Priority Mail. Heavier orders are generally $9.95.
Shipping and handling costs may vary depending upon the rates offered by our shipping carriers and promotions we may run. From time to time, we will send your order with another comparable carrier option in order to decrease shipping time.
At this time, we only have the capabilities to ship within the continental U.S. We are working on adding international shipping.

In order for us to process your return, we must receive your item(s) unopened (including tamper-evident seals) within 60 days of your order date. Please account for the time it takes for the carrier to ship your item(s) back to our Chicago warehouse. At this time we do not offer exchanges.
