Cooking with coconut oil

“Butter” your toast with it.
Add it to your smoothie.
Use it as your oil to sauté or stir-fry.
Try Bulletproof Coffee. (recipe)
Roast your vegetables. (Sweet Potato Fries!)
Make a grilled cheese sandwich! (Substitute it for your butter.)
Make popcorn! (If you use oil for making your popcorn, switch to coconut oil, or use this as a topping with a dash of salt.)

Tips

  • Coconut Oil is solid below 76°F. You may need to warm it up before using it.
  • Coconut Oil has a high "smoking" temperature, so it will do well in high heat situations up to 450°F.
  • Most experts recommend 2-4 Tablespoons per day to see its true benefits.
  • Feed it to your dog or cat to improve skin, coat, health and even prevent shedding. Start small and increases to 1 tsp/10 lbs a day.

Homemade Exfoliator – Combine oil with organic coconut sugar or ground coffee beans to create a homemade facial or body scrub that will help remove dry skin. Do this twice weekly for smooth skin that is less likely to develop ingrown hairs, acne, blackheads, or other unwanted dullness. (Dr. Axe Recipe)

Laundry Detergent – Combine coconut oil with lye, water, and essential oils of your choice to create a non-toxic soapy liquid that is perfect for cleaning clothes. The formula will not irritate your skin or have a negative affect on fabric, like many store-bought detergents can. This is a great solution for sensitive skin and those prone to allergies.
