Meet Joeben.
Before working at Dignity, he had a career as a security guard. For him, protecting the lives of the company employees, guarding the company property, and maintaining peace and order are of utmost importance. But before everything else, all he ever wanted was to be able to protect his wife Jerryl and his daughter Jiah.
In 2009, his family faced extreme financial difficulties. Joeben could not find a regular, stable job. Just sporadic contract work but it wasn’t enough to make ends meet. “We were very poor and had almost nothing to eat,” says Joeben. At that time, he felt despair and ashamed that he was not able to protect his family from hunger.
Joeben says, “But in spite of everything, through diligence and hard work, and by God’s mercy, I was able to overcome this challenge.” Joeben still did not have a stable job and he promised himself that he would do everything in his power to protect his family and avoid facing such a situation again.
One day, he heard of Dignity and decided to apply. Because of his background, he was hired as a full-time security guard. With a stable job, he is able to provide for his family, and has even started saving for the future. He was able to save up to purchase his own motorcycle to help him travel to and from work and is now in the process of building their family home.
Joeben shared, “Life was so difficult for us before I worked at Dignity. Somehow, I am now able to meet the needs of my family, and our life has improved.”
After a challenging time living and working in the city, Clint learned that he did not need to sacrifice being near family to provide for them.
